Children of Older Fathers at Risk for Bipolar Disorder

TUESDAY, Sept. 2 (HealthDay News) — The older the father, the greater his child’s risk for bipolar disorder.
That’s the conclusion of a new study by Swedish researchers who compared 13,428 people with bipolar disorder to more than 67,000 people without the condition.
“After controlling for parity (number of children), maternal age, socioeconomic status and family history of psychotic disorders, the offspring of men 55 years and older were 1.37 times more likely to be diagnosed as having bipolar disorder than the offspring of men aged 20 to 24 years,” wrote Emma M. Frans, of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, and colleagues. Read More

The Benefits of Walking

Take a walk. Enjoy the sunshine. People who walk regularly are less likely to have a heart attack, according to the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. A daily walk can strengthen your heart muscle and help lower your blood pressure. It can also help keep your blood vessels clear by balancing your cholesterol.
Walking also delivers many other health benefits. For instance, a stroll each day aids the digestion and helps with weight control. The rhythmic movement can improve your flexibility, strength and endurance. As you grow older, walking helps keep your bones, muscles and joints healthier, so you’ll feel more limber and have less risk of falling.
Best of all, walking puts you in a good mood. There is scientific evidence that walking fights depression and improves mental wellbeing. So put a spring in your step. Take a stroll. Don’t forget sunscreen!

Aerobics

Aerobics is a system of physical conditioning designed to enhance circulatory and respiratory efficiency. It involves vigorous sustained exercise, such as walking, jogging, swimming, or cycling. Without your Health, you have nothing!

Far be it for me to coach someone on being healthy. For my 30th birthday my best friend Aimee Jo bought me Orchestra tickets to "Lion King" the musical a fabulous dinner at Crusteans in Beverly Hills which I had been dying to go to and my doctor let me know I was now a 30 year old diabetic! Well let me tell ya honey, it has been an up hill battle. Partly because it is hereditary and my grandmother and great grandmother both had it. As a young girl I can remember giving my grandmother her insulin shots. According to my doctor, my weight is the major contributing factor. The last thing I want you to have to do is prick yourself 3 times a day. Not be able to have your favorite Martini with girl friends. Wanting to have that piece of cake or ice cream, but you can’t totally sucks...
So can we do this together? Getting healthier that is. Let me start by saying I am sure there are many of things we can do to get healthy. I did not say lose weight but I am sure many of us could lose a couple of pounds. On the other side of that there are many women that are plus size and are very healthy. This is where we all want to be. I am not one of those however I know many of women who are.

A Healthier You

Heart Disease and Sexual Function

Erectile dysfunction has many causes, one of which is cardio-vascular disease. It is not hard to see why this is. Blood flow is necessary for an erection to occur, and when blood flow is compromised, a man's erectile capacity is also compromised. But we're talking about science here and not philosophy, and in Western medicine, more concrete evidence is needed to establish the link between cardio-vascular problems and a man's erection capacity. The findings of an Austrian research team presented earlier this year at the annual meeting of the American Urological Association may just be that concrete proof. The research focuses on the presence of the amino acid homocysteine in the blood. High homocystein levels in the blood is a sign of heart disease. According to the research, two-thirds of the test subjects who have erectile dysfunction also had a high level of homocysteine in their blood.

July 4th Cookouts Hoodia Gordonii Weight Loss Success Stories and TAIslim

Just sitting here late in my office. It’s July 4th America’s Independence day and I have family coming over later today for a cookout. I like to say Independence instead of 4th of July because it signifies the true meaning of the day.
I was reading about Hoodia the weight loss product/ingredient that has received a lot of attention. Basically Hoodia does just one thing – it helps control appetite if you can get the high quality stuff. Apparently up to 80% of the Hoodia sold is junk.
However, think about this with all the publicity Hoodia Gordonii is getting it only helps you lose weight in one way. TAIslim also helps control your appetite plus helps you lose weight in 3 other areas:TAIslim also helps you fight Cortisol and belly and abdominal fat.
Taislim creates Thermogenesis to Burn More Calories - Clinical results on TAIslim have demonstrated a dramatic and significant increase in the body’s calorie burning potential compared to placebo and actually 20 times more than drinking green tea, which is often

Rush Limbaugh How to Lose Fat Diet and Weight Loss

Perhaps you’ve heard of Rush Limbaugh losing weight on the particular diet he’s been on, I think he’s lost in the neighborhood of 90 pounds in 5 or 6 months. He’s talked about how he hasn’t had to starve himself. It’s a special program and he’s paying a pretty penny each month for it, however, I think he can afford it.
I’m certainly not here to say anything bad about his program. If it helps people lose weight great, enough said. However, for those looking to save money and in reality have a better weight loss program they should try the TAISlim weight loss program. First it has 3 patents pending and over 30 years experience formulating nutritional products has gone into formulating this product. In addition it comes with an unconditional 90 day money back guarantee. Something previously unheard of in a weight loss product.
What’s so amazing about the TAISlim weight loss product is people have been losing weight without even following the plan on the following webpage. However, if you really want to maximize your weight loss you’ll want to follow the following plan in conjunction with taking TAIslim.

When It Comes to Casual Sex, Men Aren’t So Picky

WEDNESDAY, Aug. 12 (HealthDay News) — Men are much more likely to seek and have casual sex than women, and are far less choosy about the looks of their sex partners.
That’s the conclusion of a new study by British researchers who analyzed questionnaire responses from 860 American, German and Italian students.
The students were asked to imagine being approached by a member of the opposite sex, described as either “slightly unattractive,” “moderately attractive” or “exceptionally attractive.” The participants were then asked what their response would be if such members of the opposite sex offered to go out, go to their apartment, and to go to bed with them. Cancer Deaths Declining, Especially Among Young

THURSDAY, Aug. 13 (HealthDay News) — Cancer death rates are declining, especially among younger people, new research shows.
And while cancer is poised to become the number one killer in the United States, topping heart disease, that is because deaths from heart disease have decreased faster than for cancer.
“Older Americans have only experienced decreased [cancer] mortality very recently, but younger Americans have been seeing benefits for a long time so, as a result, everyone born in the last 60 years has been reaping the benefits of efforts in prevention research and treatment research and early detection research,” said Dr. Eric Kort, lead author of a study appearing in the Aug. 15 issue of Cancer Research. MRI May Not Improve Breast Cancer Outcome

THURSDAY, Aug. 13 (HealthDay News) — The use of MRI before surgery to assess the extent of early breast cancer may do more harm than good, a new review shows.
The study authors said this use of MRI increases the likelihood that patients will have more extensive surgery instead of a conservative therapy, but that this more aggressive treatment doesn’t lead to improved surgical care or patient outcomes. Read More

Health Perks of Coffee

Studies are now proving that your morning cup of coffee is more than a pick-me-up. Drinking coffee has multiple health benefits, including possibly preventing cancer, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, headaches, cavities, and heart disease. According to an article on Web MD titled Coffee: The New Health Food? referring to the risk of diabetes, “…having six cups or more each day slashed men’s risk by 54% and women’s by 30% over java avoiders.”. The article also stated that “At least six studies indicate that people who drink coffee on a regular basis are up to 80% less likely to develop Parkinson’s, with three showing the more they drink, the lower the risk”.
This is great news for everyone who enjoys their morning cup of coffee, but was under the impression that coffee does more harm than good. Coffee contains a large amount of antioxidants. The antioxidants help cleanse your body and help protect against disease. Drinking coffee can help sharpen your concentration, reduce the risk of kidney stones and help your teeth. It is also said to be a great addition to your workout. It reduces pain from exercise allowing you to exercise longer and maintain a better overall work out.
Once a morning pick-me up, is now a beverage that is encouraged to be consumed throughout the day. With all the health benefits, who doesn’t want to drink more of America’s beloved morning beverage? So go get your coffee maker brewing!!
